So if you want to do something about it the best is to turn to duckduckgo.com, a very powerfull open source search engine.
Another interesting fact about tracking is that it enclosed you in a search engine filter bubble (check here: http://dontbubble.us/), duckduckgo doesn't do that…

works actually better than google, unless I search for tech stuff. Mailing lists are mostly ignored. But really great for most of the normal family searches.
You can customized it quite a lot, and a new design will be out in few days (or week).

They could really use a class in marketing/product branding though. hard to take seriously something called duckduckgo ;-)
